Octopus Desk for Windows v4.3.6 is Now Available

Release Date: July 8, 2026

We are pleased to announce the release of Octopus Desk for Windows v4.3.6. This version introduces new capabilities for MSP environments, enhanced Remote Desktop authentication, usability improvements, and important bug fixes.

Release Highlights

MSP Shared Account Support

Customers using Octopus Tenant Manager can now configure cross-tenant account sharing. Authorized users can access shared accounts across multiple tenants without enrolling separately for each tenant.

  • Simplified access for MSP administrators
  • Cross-tenant shared account support
  • Access to ADPA, SAML, and WS-Federation services in the host tenant
Important: MSP Shared Account functionality requires Octopus Authentication Server v6.8.7 or later.

Shared Account Support for Remote Desktop

Shared accounts are now supported when authenticating to remote Windows machines through RDP. Users enter the shared account name in the upper username field and their personal username in the lower field.

This provides secure accountability while maintaining the convenience of shared administrative accounts.

RDP Authentication Error Messages

Authentication errors are now displayed directly on the RDP login screen, making it easier for users and administrators to identify and troubleshoot authentication issues.

Domain Name Prepopulation

Administrators can configure Octopus Desk to automatically prepopulate the Windows login username field with a domain name followed by a backslash.

DOMAIN\

The domain name is configured in the Advanced tab of the Windows MSIUpdater.

Password Verification for Desktop SSO Vault Applications

Users are now required to verify their password during the initial login to Desktop SSO vault applications. This additional step validates the stored credentials before Desktop SSO is used.
