This document describes the features and enhancements available in Octopus Desk for Mac version 2.6.8.
IMPORTANT:
- Octopus Desk version 2.6.8 is intended for use with Octopus Authentication Server version 5.6 only. Working with older versions of the Authentication Server is unadvised.
- When upgrading from previous versions, make sure you log out of the user account when the installation finishes. You may then immediately log back in using your preferred authentication method.
Octopus Desk for Mac version 2.6.8 introduces the following features:
Access offline machines with password [SSA-13161]: A new flag in the configuration file enables the system admin to allow users to log into / unlock offline machines using standard password authentication. This feature is useful for ensuring a smooth workflow in the event that BLE authentication is unavailable or does not perform as expected.
Increased FIDO authentication options [SSA-11651]: Octopus Desk for Mac now supports use of Sentry and HID Enterprises FID02 cards.
Enhanced platform support: Octopus Desk for Mac now supports macOS Sonoma.
Octopus Desk for Mac version 2.6.8 includes the following bug fixes:
Issue Number | Issue Description | Current Status |
---|---|---|
SSA-13165 | Unexpected sudo behavior in offline unlock with password implementation | Fixed |
SSA-13184 | No fallback to BLE mode when DMZ Server is down | Fixed |
Octopus Desk for Mac version 2.6.8 contains the following known issues, which will be fixed in coming versions:
Refresh User Profile does not work for Local users: This option, in the Security tab of the user details in the Octopus Management Console, does not work properly on the Mac. Clicking Refresh User Profile deletes the password history and the correct local password will not be successfully retrieved to the Mac.
Mac users are advised not to use this option.
Jamf policy issues: In some cases when Jamf is installed on the Mac, Octopus Desk for Mac is unable to sync the password. Users may need to disable Jamf password policies in order to resolve this issue.
BLE issues: BLE authentication can be used to unlock the Mac, but does not work as expected for login.
sudo for Bypass users: A password is currently required for users in Bypass mode to run sudo.
