Important Advisory: Octopus for Mac and macOS 26.4.x Keychain Issue

Advisory for customers using Octopus Desktop for Mac on macOS 26.4.x

Dear Customers,

We would like to notify you of a known issue affecting Octopus for Mac on macOS 26.4.x.

Issue Summary

Based on our testing and current findings, macOS 26.4.x appears to include an Apple-related Keychain issue that may occur during user logout or when the screen saver / lock screen is triggered.

This behavior may impact Keychain access and may cause macOS to create a new Keychain. As a result, users may be required to re-authenticate to applications and services, and may also be prompted again for security-related access on the Mac.

Apple has addressed this issue in macOS 26.5 RC1, and our testing indicates that the issue appears to be resolved in that version.

Recommended Action

To help avoid potential impact, we recommend the following:

  1. Avoid upgrading Mac devices to macOS 26.4.x, if possible, until macOS 26.5 is officially released. Based on the information currently available, macOS 26.5 is expected to be released by the middle of May 2026.
  2. Upgrade Octopus Desktop for Mac to version 4.4.4. This version is mandatory for macOS 26.4 and above.

Temporary Workarounds

If you already upgraded to macOS 26.4.x, and until macOS 26.5 is officially released, customers already running macOS 26.4.x may consider one of the following temporary workarounds.

Option 1: Set the “Require password” option to “Never”

On macOS, go to:

System SettingsLock ScreenRequire password after screen saver begins or display is turned offNever

Option 2: Upgrade to macOS 26.5 RC1

Our internal testing of macOS 26.5 RC1 indicates that the issue appears to be resolved by Apple.

Option 3: Use the Octopus custom screen lock/unlock mechanism

Alternatively, customers may use the Octopus custom screen lock/unlock mechanism until the corrected macOS version is officially released.

Important Note

These steps are intended to reduce the risk of password and Keychain synchronization issues until Apple releases the corrected macOS version.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional updates as needed.

Best regards,
Secret Double Octopus Team
