Octopus Authentication System Upgrade Process High Level View - Secret Double Octopus
?

Introduction

The Secret Double Octopus solution can be deployed to accommodate high authentication volumes by adding parallel Authentication Servers (Auth Servers and DMZ Servers). This type of configuration also caters to High Availability (HA) and Business Continuity needs.

This document provides a high-level view of the upgrade process for the basic HA configuration. The upgrade steps need to be repeated for every additional Auth Server and DMZ Server.

Basic High Availability System Components

The minimal system configuration that provides basic High Availability to ensure business continuity and uninterrupted services includes:

  • Two Management Console (MC) machines (one active and one passive)
  • Two internal Authentication Servers (for internal users)
  • An external database
  • Two DMZ Servers (for external users)
  • Two load balancers (one for the internal Auth Servers and one for the DMZ Servers)
